HIGH STAR RANCH WEDDING PICTURES
One of my favorite venues in the Kamas Valley is High Star Ranch. The ranch has grown quite a bit in the last couple of years but is still a beautiful backdrop for a wedding. Many ceremonies have been held under the grounds 100 year old tree. Their sprawling lawn is the perfect spot to enjoy cocktail hour, lawn games, and an intimate dinner. And my favorite place for a first dance, an old hay barn that faces the setting sun.
Laura and Iain's wedding was a favorite of mine. I suggested that Laura and Iain have their first look in a field near a tiny cemetery on the ranch's property. The staff insisted on shuttling all of us down the dusty dirt road to make it happen. The early afternoon light was lovely for their portrait session. They chose to have an intimate ceremony on the hillside behind the ranch. Guests were shuttled from Park City to Kamas on yellow school buses. They hiked up the path to witness the sweet vows between the bride and groom. Everyone then took their time parading down the hill to cocktail hour and were led by friends singing 'This Train is Bound for Glory'.
There were sweet DIY touches...Laura made the amazing paper cone curtain that adorned the dance barn entrance. The bride and groom made their own wedding cake, Laura baking one kind, Iain another, and putting half of the two cakes together. They also canned their own hot sauce favors. So many sweet details that made their wedding just perfect. There was a lovely down-to-earth, bohemian feel to their day. It was sooo Laura and Iain!
